TAFE Directors Australia Convention 2022

On Thursday, 17 November 2022, Damian Oliver, Assistant Secretary, Pricing and Performance Branch, presented at the TAFE Directors Australia Convention 2022 on Understanding the training landscape: using data from Jobs and Skills Australia.

The presentation provided an overview of Job and Skills Australia’s activities (and those of the National Skills Commission) to analyse and strengthen the VET system. This included the work to bring together diverse data sources to:

• produce and update the Australian Skills Classification, which helps define the skills that underpin jobs in Australia.
• map the connections between occupations and VET qualifications based on their underlying skills
• identify the occupations currently in shortage and with strong future growth prospects
• look at current VET activity to identify the critical gaps.
