Jobs and Skills Report launched at the Roadshow in Canberra

Today, Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) hit the road for our 2024 Roadshow event, starting in Parliament House, Canberra, then visiting each capital city over November and December. Our mission: to engage with our valued partners and stakeholders across the country and present JSA’s strategic vision, key products and our direction for the future.

As part of the event, we’re set to launch the new Better Together – The Jobs and Skills Report 2024, a comprehensive resource outlining JSA’s evidence and analysis, that aims to pave the way for a prosperous future for Australians.

The report is structured around five strategic pillars:

1. Fostering Inclusive Participation: Striving for a workforce that is inclusive and fully understood, with a focus on optimising pathways and fostering informed discussions.

2. Understanding Today’s Workforce: Providing intelligence that equips Australians to navigate the current labour market, understand present opportunities, and recognize necessary skills.

3. Shaping Australia’s Future Workforce: Highlighting 37 emerging roles across key themes such as Health, Care and Medical, Data and Technologies, Net Zero, and Science and Engineering.

4. Optimising Pathways and System Architecture: Promoting collaboration between sectors to enhance the connectivity and relevance of the workforce supply.

5. Activating Informed Dialogue: Emphasizing the importance of joint efforts with all stakeholders to create a responsive and inclusive national skills system.

‘We are committed to ensuring our work has a strong focus on equity, access and inclusion across education, training and employment.

‘There is further work to be done to ensure more Australians can access secure, safe, and fairly paid work, and that Australia’s current and future skills challenges are overcome.’ – JSA Commissioner Professor Barney Glover AO

At the Roadshow

In each state and territory, we’re offering a number of showcase booths and one-on-one demonstrations of our Jobs and Skills Atlas – key labour market datasets in one simple, user-friendly interface, Occupation Shortage List – a detailed view of occupations in shortage and our Employment Projections – how the current expected economic and labour market outlook is impacting Australia’s future workforce needs, plus more.

Some tickets are still available, so come along for a chance to connect with stakeholders from various sectors and to hear from representatives from JSA, state and territory governments and local experts in in-depth panel discussions.

Additionally, hear about our ongoing analysis and findings through significant studies and consultations such as the:

  • Clean Energy Capacity Study
  • Early Childhood Education and Care Capacity Study
  • VET Workforce Analysis.
