REOS spotlight: Recent trends in recruitment difficulty

This month we are shining the light on recent trends in recruitment difficulty.

Through our regular Recruitment Experiences and Outlook Survey (REOS) spotlight series, we will unpack trends in recruitment difficulty, in the context of broader labour market conditions.

Recruitment difficulty remains at a high level. While not quite at the peak like mid-2022, the difficulty employers are having recruiting staff has been increasing throughout 2023.

A lack of applicants and importantly, suitable applicants, remains a cause of concern for employers. Employers are also increasingly reporting that they think undesirable working conditions are a reason for struggling to recruit staff.

Employers continue to have vacancies remain unfilled for long periods of time.
